As President and Wealth Advisor for Heritage Wealth Management Group, Zach works directly with families to help them develop, clarify, and achieve their financial goals. He is a firm believer that money is simply a tool to fund the life you want to live, and every financial decision you make should be in alignment with what’s most important to you. Since joining the profession, his goal has always been to help people build lives they love with the resources they have. Zach specializes in helping high-income professionals retire early and lower their taxes throughout retirement.
Originally from Norfolk, Virginia, Zach graduated summa cum laude from Virginia Tech, receiving a bachelor’s degree in finance, with a concentration in financial planning.
Zach received his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. in June 2021. He also became an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service in August 2021. An Enrolled Agent is a federally authorized tax practitioner who has technical expertise in the field of taxation, and who is empowered by the Department of Treasury to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service for audits, collections, and appeals. Only Enrolled Agents, attorneys, and CPAs may represent taxpayers before the IRS.
Zach teaches a ‘Retirement Planning and Mid-Course Corrections’ course for both George Mason University and American University’s OLLI programs. He also frequently posts financial education content on LinkedIn, Facebook, and sends out a bi-weekly newsletter to subscribers, titled ‘Retirement Redefined.’
Zach currently serves on the Journal of Financial Planning’s editorial review board. Knowledgeable in key areas of financial planning and financial services, the Journal’s editorial review board members provide an essential evaluation of technical manuscripts that are considered for publication in the Journal’s Contribution section.
Outside of the office, Zach enjoys spending time with family, his fiancée Mary Kate, and their golden retrievers, Rudy and Rosie, exploring national parks, and cheering on the Virginia Tech Hokies.
