Steve joined Heritage Wealth Management Group after a successful career in business as an entrepreneur and accountant. Joining the company in 2019 as VP Finance, he also helps direct and execute the growth and expansion plans of the firm as Director of Development.
As Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer, and Director of Development, he helped make Cruise International into a $100 million company. As President of the Spirit of Norfolk Dinner Boat organization, by understanding what people wanted, he delivered a product that people enjoyed. With his partners, Steve spearheaded the revitalization of Taylors Landing Marine Center, one of the anchor companies involved in the rebirth of Norfolk’s Ocean View area.
Steve had his own accounting practice and worked as a financial counselor with the Small Business Development Center of Hampton Roads for over fifteen years. As a volunteer for nearly fifty years at the YMCA of South Hampton Roads. He is twice the recipient of the coveted YMCA Service to Youth Award.
His financial literacy curriculum is now being made available by Global Tel Link, the national leader in correctional facilities education, to returning citizens across the country. He is the Founder/Executive Director of Right Thinking Foundation, a 501(C)(3) organization which fights recidivism by teaching individuals how to reach goals by understanding how money works in their lives. He also hosts a weekly radio show Right Thinking with Steve Coplon and is a published magazine and book author.
A native of the Tidewater area, Steve attended ODU. He lives in Norfolk with his wife, Donna where they enjoy their five children and eight beautiful grandchildren.
