A resident of the Ghent area of Norfolk, Virginia, Mark is a husband to Margie, our Client Services Director, and the father of four. A graduate of Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, he also holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of New Orleans.
Mark’s lifetime interest in history, economics and the financial markets is initially what drew him to pursue a now forty-two-year career in financial services. Considering himself fortunate to have a vocation that allows him to draw upon those interests, he has spent his career using that knowledge to assist those whom he serves in the accomplishment of their financial objectives.
In May 2004, seeking to devote the remainder of his career working for a business devoted solely to serving the interests of those whom he serves, Mark, along with several colleagues, founded Heritage Wealth Management Group. In the following 20 plus years, he has overseen Heritage’s evolution to its present position as a fully independent Registered Investment Advisory practice.
Mark is the father of Katherine, who has given him two grandchildren, Austin, an emergency medical technician, and his and Margie’s two twin boys, Alec, who works for Deloitte, and Zach, who serves alongside his father as a financial advisor at Heritage Wealth.
Because Mark believes that one should never be bored or boring, he views one of his life’s greatest challenges as the fitting of his life’s passions within the confines of a twenty-four hour day. He may often be seen along the streets of Norfolk and beyond, frequently walking twelve or more miles. He is a member of Christ & St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Norfolk and also been active in Kairos Prison Ministry. As the founder of our firm, Mark continuously strives to do what is best for us, which is in turn, is what is best for our clients.
