Christopher’s journey started with giving guidance to individuals upon graduation from Virginia Tech, working as a campus/community minister. During those 8 years, he helped establish a non-profit organization serving as Director of Development for the New Life Campus Fellowship to enrich the lives of VT students that exists to this day. Knowing he had a passion in counseling, he discovered an equal passion in finance and holistic planning. The events of the April 2007 Virginia Tech shootings and the Great Recession of 2008-09 were pivotal events that tested him and were foundational in establishing the service mentality that has fueled Chris ever since.
He began his Financial Services career in 2008, building his business in Midlothian, VA the old-fashioned way – using shoe leather and knocking on doors. During his tenure with Edward Jones, he learned valuable lessons on mental toughness and perseverance; providing financial advice during one of the toughest recessions in the U.S. in recent memory. Concurrently, Chris and his wife built a successful Yoga business where they tripled their clientele and sold the business for a handsome profit.
Chris left Edward Jones and moved back to his roots in Hampton Roads where he joined Charles Schwab, serving as Vice President-Financial Consultant to high net worth clients. He worked with trusts, individuals, families, and business owners in a wealth planning capacity, solving complex client issues, building strong relationships and earning the Client Service Excellence award for consecutive years in the process.
Chris was most recently with the Private Client Group of Wells Fargo, however, fortunately for Heritage Wealth Management Group he became available to join us, and did so in September of 2020. His attraction to Heritage was due to the similar mindset we share of our industry and our purpose, namely to serve our clients by providing financial advice and investment management where the needs and the goals of the client are the overriding focus. Providing a multi-faceted approach to personal finance, the most important driver for Christopher is “getting it right, not trying to be right.” He derives the greatest satisfaction when serving his clients, confident in the knowledge that together, they will find the best path to the client’s financial success and the achievement of their life goals.
Christopher carries the Accredited Investment Fiduciary designation AIF® and is an avid learner, now 12 years into his chosen profession. He resides in Chesapeake, VA and is married to his lovely wife Laurie of 21 years and is the father of three: Allison, Olivia, and Gage. A man of many tastes, he enjoys all kinds of music, microbrews, cooking, and home improvement around the house. They travel to the Caribbean occasionally where Laurie teaches Yoga at resorts, and Chris helps carry the yoga mats and sips martinis. He is active in service to his community and church and enjoys playing in the men’s OTSL soccer league (when he’s in shape!) Aside from being a VT Hokie supporter, his biggest sports love is for Premier League soccer of which he is an avid Arsenal F.C. fan.
